Fat Loss vs. Weight Loss (Ditch The Scale)

The scale is a liar.  It’s the simple truth, ladies.  I know that for most of us throughout life we’ve measured so much of our self worth by that silly digital number and honestly the time has come to stop.  Here’s why. The scale isn’t always accurate-- and in a nutshell it doesn’t measure muscle mass vs. fat mass. Reality is we can weigh the same as always or even more when we are putting in hard work and eating clean.  It is very disheartening when this is the only metric we use. Most of the time we aren’t stopping to think of all of the Non-Scale related victories we’ve accumulated.

-Inches Lost

-Mental health clarity/Mindset Shifts

-Medications we don’t need anymore

-Hormone Balance

-Agility and Balance Gains

-Improved Sleep Quality

The list can go on and on when we start to stop and think what wins we have had in our journey.  The other reality is that Fat Loss is the most important thing to be working towards. We are all capable of losing weight- but most of the time we use unrealistic or extreme measures that don’t work or last and in this method we’ll lose muscle too and we don’t want to do that.  What we are really after is fat loss. Muscle is vital  to your success for losing fat. “Muscles have these little fat burning powerhouses called mitochondria. Mitochondria are cellular power plants that are responsible for the production of energy. It’s in the mitochondria that fat is metabolized. There is a positive correlation between the amount of muscle you have and the number of mitochondria. And it stands to reason that the more mitochondria you have, the more the potential to burn fat.”

This is why it stands to reason that the scale needs to go and we need to rely on our other NSV’s as indicators for real success and positive changes.  Tracking fat loss through inches lost, sizes dropped, taking pictures to visually see the changes. So today, I want to challenge you to put the scale away.  Start implementing a lifestyle that allows you to be healthy inside and out, not letting a number dictate your happiness. I would love to help you in your journey to do just that! In the FASTer Way to Fat Loss we truly teach our bodies to become Fat burners rather than sugar burners. Join us for this upcoming round that begins April 8th!

Cheers,

Jenny
