Are you self disciplined?

Let’s chat about self discipline for a minute.

This is a HUGE topic, friends. Now days it is all about the excuses. Excuses for EVERYTHING. So where does the self discipline come in? When does it truly just come down to being lazy or disciplined?

According to the Webster's Dictionary, self discipline is the ability to make yourself do things that should be done.

Simple as that… “the ability to make yourself do things that should be done.”

Think about it.

Would you say that you’re self disciplined when it comes to your health? Or are you just a “whatever” person when it comes to your health?

Self discipline is KEY to reaching goals and truly living a healthy life.

Does your body need exercise? YES.

Is it always fun to go do it? NO.

Should you be self disciplined to get it done? YES.

Does your body need proper nutrients to live fully? YES.

Is it always easy to make healthy choices? NO.


So how do we go about being self disciplined with our health and wellness when the motivation runs out? Great question.

  1. Set a goal.
  2. Have a plan and write it out.
  3. Have an accountability partner or trainer to check in with.
  4. Set your daily non-negotiables (of which I talked about earlier in the week).
  5. Practice. Practice. Practice.

Remember that practice makes perfect when it comes to exercising self discipline, so practice practice, practice. And also remember that you are human and you will struggle - so give yourself grace for those times but also stop with the excuses and show a little discipline in taking care of your health!
