Effective Exercise for Beginners

So you’ve decided to start your health journey! Congratulations on this commitment to YOU! Nothing is better than taking care of the body God gave you!

Now that you’ve decided to take care of you, let’s chat about some effective exercises that are great for beginners.

Your options are numerous and can include anything from walking to hiking to weight training! But I would like to recommend at least 30 minutes a day of exercise.

When I have a beginner come to me looking to start an exercise routine, I always recommend starting slow. Walking 30 minutes a day is a great place to start for a couple weeks. Once you have gotten used to this light activity, I do suggest adding in some intervals. Try a recumbent bike and pedaling as fast you can for 15 seconds and then slow for 45 seconds. Repeat this for 10 minutes and do this about 3-4x per week for a couple of weeks. After that, I do recommend to add in some light weight training. Why? Because the more muscle you build, the more calories you burn… and that’s what we want right? Absolutely!

Try this workout out:

10 Bodyweight Squats

10 Modified Jumping Jacks (touch your toe to each side if you are not able to do full jumping jacks)

10 Bicep Curls

10 Tricep Kickbacks

5 Push Ups (on knees)

15 minutes of intervals on a bike (as listed above)

This is a great place to start if you are a beginner and looking for something simple to start adding in a couple times per week. In my fat loss virtual bootcamps, I do offer a beginner workout plan!
