Weight Training and Chiropractic: The Importance of Regular Care

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Chiropractic care is something that has been important to me my whole adult life (especially with migraine issues), but it has become even more valuable now that I’m in the gym so often and consistently weight training. Through my education and programs to become a trainer, proper posture and alignment is stressed for each and every move done in the gym. However, obtaining that proper alignment starts outside the gym, it starts with a chiropractor!

Chiropractors are not ‘back doctors’ (although I often refer to them as that to my girls), they are healthcare professionals who help your body move in the best ways possible by adjusting the alignment of your spine.Weight Training and Chiropractic Care- The Importance of Regular Care

Regular chiropractic adjustment can change your training in amazing ways. Regular adjustments mean that your joints and bones are in the best position possible and the surrounding muscles are working the way they are meant to. Working out with misaligned muscles can cause long term issues, and wear and tear on muscles and joints. It can also reduce the amount of muscle strength you’re able to build! Having proper alignment relieves muscle tension, keeps proper tone, and promotes better circulation, which helps your muscles cope with being ‘stressed’. When your muscles can cope better, you recover faster! Which means less burn the next day, and who doesn’t want that!?

Along with making sure that you’re ready to work in the gym, chiropractors can also help you plan HOW you work in the gym. They’re a wealth of knowledge, and will help you work muscles that are lacking, or maybe need to be retrained in order to keep proper alignment. They can guide you on what stretches to start incorporating into your routine, and small adjustments to make when lifting to keep you injury free. I cannot stress this enough. If it weren't for chiropractic care, I would have never truly understood the importance of strengthening my neck. This is my problem area and since my neck is weak, it often pulls me out of alignment thus causing headaches, neck pain, and migraines.

The great thing about seeing a chiropractor is how at ease I feel when I’m in the gym after an adjustment. I know that my posture is correct, and I know that I’m working towards not just strength but well rounded muscle and joint health while I am weight training. So if you are in to weight training, and you haven't started chiropractic care yet --- DO IT!
