Goal Setting for the New Year

Happy 2018 friends! I truly cannot believe how fast the past year has flown by and I could not have asked for a better year. With some big big business decisions to moving into a new house and leaving my home of 11 years… it’s been a ride!

First off, I want to THANK YOU for being such a loyal follower of my journey and fitness business. I am beyond honored to have worked with hundreds and hundreds of women the past year on their health journeys! My passion is to teach women how they can reach their fitness and health potential, no matter the age. And the Lord has let me do just that! So if you are one of my clients, I want to THANK YOU for trusting me along the way as your trainer.

So let’s chat about goal setting for 2018.

Here are a few things to keep in mind when setting your health and fitness goals:

  1. Set goals that are attainable. Are they within reach? It is better to start with smaller goals that you can reach faster and once you have hit those goals, then set some new ones.

  2. Don’t focus on the negative aspect of the goal. In other words, don’t make your goal to be around “removing something” but rather adding something. For example: Don’t have your goal be to “lose 20 lbs” but rather “eat healthy and exercise weekly” - then the SIDE EFFECT of that goal will end up being that you lose weight. Get it?

  3. Set a date. So you’ve set your goal, now it’s time to set a date that you will evaluate your progress. Give yourself a deadline.

  4. Set your reward. Once you’ve hit your goal, what will your reward be? Hint… don’t make it about food! How about a massage? Or a shopping trip? Do not reward yourself with bad food - that defeats the purpose!
