I am married to my high school sweetheart and we are celebrating our 12 year anniversary this coming Sunday the 10th. I really cannot believe it has been 12 years! Time sure does fly.
I have three gorgeous daughters, Taylor (9), Ellie (8), and Averi (5). They keep me busy and are at such a fun age where we can go do things and all laugh with each other.
4th of July in Sandpoint is pretty traditional. The town puts on a parade (which is the same every year) in the downtown streets. It seems like the whole county comes out and it consists of fire trucks, horses, old cars, the dance team, football team and some local businesses. Always fun to see everyone out and about!
We are lucky enough to live very close to Lake Pend Orielle and have family who have property on the water. Each year all the immediate family, extended family and friends gather for a BBQ and fireworks. The kids have fun tubing and jumping in the lake while the adults sit back and enjoy the view. It was quite a bummer that this year the weather was a bit chilly and overcast. However that did not stop the kids!
My husband, his dad and his brother were in charge of grilling the burgers and hotdogs this year. They always have such a good time while the rest of us play horseshoes or relax in the hammocks. There typically ends up being about 50-75 people at the Lewis beach - we often see old friends and make new ones along the way.
Just before dark, the boys start lighting off fireworks at the end of the dock. Everyone gathers around the fire or spreads out on a blanket staring up into the sky. Our kids love this. They have grown up with this tradition since they were born and I remember the days they would be asleep in our arms or in their carrier at our feet while the fireworks go off. I truly feel blessed that this is our tradition. This year, Taylor was wrapped up in her Ammy's arms (my husband's mom) while Ellie was snuggling with her Pop (my husband's dad). Averi got the best seat in the house in front of the fire with all the college kids while making smores and being the center of attention!
After the family fireworks, across the lake at the public beach, the city sets up a huge firework display. So we get double the fireworks! It is such an amazing time of year for our little town.
Love this life God gave me. All the good and all the bad. All the family and all the friends. We are truly blessed.
